Today, outdoor enthusiasts have access
to many products that can enhance our precious recreation
time.
While there are many products that make this claim,
three I have tested definitely do the job. These include
the Aqua-Vu underwater video viewing system, Husky Liners,
and Super Lube multi-purpose lubricant with Teflon.
As a serious outdoorsman, a professional fisherman,
and an educator, I am always looking for the best things
for taking care of my equipment and making my time more
successful both on and off the water. Recently I found
a lubricant that is clean, prevents corrosion, and serves
endless purposes. Super Lube will lubricate reels, the
zipper on a rain suit, boat motors, hinges, virtually
anything that requires lubrication. You can pack your
trailer bearings with it. The Teflon actually gets impregnated
into the metal, so you use less grease and have better
protection on down the road. Your equipment will run
more smoothly and it will last longer.
Super Lube is not an oil. It's actually Teflon. It
is non-toxic, does not stain, and has no effect on rubber,
plastic or wood. You can wipe it off your hands with
a rag and it will not leave an oily residue. It will
not run or drip, and is impervious to saltwater. Extreme
temperatures will not affect it.
One of the greatest problems outdoor folks have with
lubricants is that most have strong odors, yet you must
use them. Super Lube has no odor. Hunters should really
like that, especially bowhunters. It will not leave
odors on your fishing lures. This product will help
maintain your equipment and make you more efficient
in the field.
Every angler must have wondered what it looks like
underwater where the fish live. Aqua-Vu actually allows
us to do it. You can see what those images on your sonar
screen actually look like. It may not catch fish, but
it will surely show you what kind of fish are under
your boat. If you are marking fish, you simply drop
this camera down and it shows you what kind of fish
are there. If it's carp you move on. Aqua-Vu will teach
you how to interpret your sonar. And it saves time.
The Aqua-Vu underwater video viewing system consists
of state-of-the-art components made for ultra-low-light
underwater performance. A black & white camera is
attached to 75 feet of power cable. You watch on a five-inch
monitor which is built into an impact-resistant carrying
case that is about the size of a large tackle box. This
system also includes a rechargeable battery, battery
chargers, a cigarette lighter power adapter and ballast
weights for the camera.
The camera is 40 times more sensitive than conventional
color cameras. When that is still not enough, it has
a built-in ultraviolet light. This can be turned on
by remote control whenever you need it.
This unit is designed for anglers who want to make
100 percent use of their time. And it can be used for
other things. A bowhunter can use it to watch a trail
that is blocked from view. A birdwatcher can actually
film birds hatching in a nest. It comes with 75 feet
of cable, but it can be special ordered with as much
cable as you want.
How many of us scrounge for carpets to protect the
floors of our sport utility vehicles? Husky Liners has
solved this problem with a series of soft, heavy duty
plastic floor liners made from engineering resin that
is light, yet tough and durable. They are custom fitted
so they stay put, they will not slide around. Black,
gray or tan colors will coordinate with any vehicle
interior.
One of the things I like best about these liners is
the lip. If you spill something, say your minnow bucket
or a cup of coffee, everything stays on the liner. The
carpet is protected. It will stay like new forever.
With the expense of vehicles today, this is really important.
It's a time saving thing and a money saving thing because
your vehicle is going to have better resale value.
Think about the unpleasant odors you avoid. When you
spill things on the carpet it will never really be fresh
again without an expensive professional cleaning. Husky
Floor Liners can easily be cleaned with a damp cloth
or sponge. If necessary, a mild cleaner can be used.
Or if it gets really dirty, maybe you hauled your trophy
buck and blood ran onto the liner, you can take it out,
hose it off, and shove it right back in.
These are the kinds of things I look for, things that
save time and save money, things that make my time in
the field more pleasant and more productive.
